Well, Garry tried to rejigconfubulate the viewscreen on the bridge and ended up destroying the main isolinear tri-band emitter (graphics card to the low tech out there) so we've had to report to spacedock until further notice.
Thanks a lot Garry!

Stardate 87735.30
Mission successful, Starfleet Accounting added a note to my record suggesting that due to my seeming inadequacy in the realms of diplomatic communication, a "diplomatic success" notation would be added to any mission log that didn't result in their having to replace my ship.
Having satisfied this (rather stringent) requirement, we disembarked at Starbase Earth for some much appreciated R&R. Also, I had finally accumulated enough mission hours to apply for promotion to Commander.
Not only did this mean more pay, but also the ability to promote my juniors up a grade as well. Although the rank entitled me to captain one of the more recent science vessels, Starfleet Accounting denied my application for a new ship. Fortunately the time travel trip to the past had resulted in an unexpected windfall.
A bank statement listing: "For services to the U.S.S. Enterprise" had a small cash allocation next to it. Many, MANY years ago. With interest I now had enough capital to co-opt a vessel. Of course, I'm going to treat this one with more than the customary amount of care. You know you lose half of the initial value of a ship in the first hundred stardates.
The U.S.S. Endurance. The shielded bubble allows for a great number of experiments and particle physics applications. It also helps the ship go faster and pick up chicks (according to the salesman).
The bridge is far more spacious than any of the previous ships. Anthi likes being able to sit down as First Officer, rather than stand all the time (like Dwight and the others).
Our first mission was to investigate the disappearance of a ship that had been due to arrive in starbase several days previously. A transmission had been picked up with a message for assistance and that's where we came in.
Our scanners are far more powerful than most other ships of this or lower class and we put them to good use.
On the planet below we found life signs, and a beacon that Garry locked on to to transport the away team down.
Good work Garry. We appeared in a force field, with some Hirogen Hunters on the outside of it.
They had laid the cunning trap in order to test their warriors against Starfleet's best. Unfortunately we responded instead. Incensed and enraged at having their plans foiled, they prepared to incinerate us.
Dwight managed to rig their force-field generators to work for us instead of against us, plugging in his tricorder and expanding the field to take in the Hunters who were in charge. Finding themselves inside the shield bubble, they had no choice but to fight. Anthi and Tommy proved to be equal to Starfleet's best in the "kill the Hunters" division.
The best part of the story is that we found the crew of the missing ship alive and well. Rescuing them alerted us to a new threat, however.
The crew had discovered a planet that had been entirely enclosed within a massive shield. Detecting Romulan energy signatures from within, they had requested a science vessel for further scans and then run before being detected. It was sheer bad luck that had caused them to then be captured by the Hunters.
Well we had a science vessel with good scanners, so off we headed to the mysterious shielded planet. Reggie managed to disable a small section of the shielding so that we could slip inside.
We confirmed the Romulan energy signatures, and headed towards the planet to find out more. There was a localised disturbance on the planet surface that we couldn't quite figure out. Of course, the only thing to do was beam down to investigate.
A secret Romulan facility! We had to battle our way through the enemy to get to the entrance to the base. Surely they must be up to no good here.
Sure enough, inside their base we found many strange devices, and more importantly a Federation prisoner held captive!
Although we were confused at the sheer size of the cage, and were puzzled as to why the guy hadn't just exited through the holes in the lattice, we rescued him anyway. Apparently he'd been transfixed by the massive red lava lamp style power coupling next to his cell. Which led us to ask why he hadn't sabotaged the device, since it was easily in arm's reach.
Well, some people are do-ers and some aren't I guess. He had little information for me, but did say that he had overheard the Romulan Sub-commander T'pik talking about a rendezvous with a Ferengi trader.
We beamed out and found a D'deridex cruiser between us and freedom.
At last, I was in a ship that could avenge all our previous encounters with the Romulans. The end result of our combat, with three forward firing banks of plasma weapons and a rear firing photon torpedo launcher...
I made sure I'd purchased the premium plasma-torpedo resistant paint on the Endurance. Some people say it's a waste of credits. I say it made for one ex-D'deridex.
We met up with the Ferengi trader ship.
On board a strange half-vulcan told us an intriguing story. The Romulans had recently purchased a half dozen tribbles. He had one spare of the same breed that he'd sold. We purchased it and took it back to the ship for analysis.
Reggie determined that as well as the normal tribble reproduction rates, this particular breed seemed well suited to genetic manipulation. Just what were the Romulans up to?
The only other information that we had was the course setting the Ferengi had recorded when the Romulan ship had departed. We plotted the same course and Reggie calculated possible destinations.
Halfway to one place, Garry detected an anomaly. We dropped out of warp to find...
A malfunctioning Borg sphere and some Romulan science vessels. We destroyed the Romulans, scanned the sphere and then destroyed it to. On the long range scanners, we detected energy readings.
It wasn't long before we found ourselves in orbit around a Romulan Base. What do you get when you cross a Romulan, a tribble and a Borg? Not a good combination, though Tommy says he has a joke that starts in the exact same way.
Sure enough, beaming down to the base we found Borg technology being added to Romulan computer systems. Anthi located a tribble with an adorable, yet scary, cybernetic fuzzy antenna.
I confronted the Romulan commander, who resisted my interrogation. Eventually I resorted to "blandifying" his transporter system in an effort to get him to talk. Hey, you stick with what you know.
The conversation was, unfortunately, recorded.
"Romulan commander T'pik - how do you explain this!" (showing him the Borg enhanced tribble).
"I refuse to talk to a lowly commander in Starfleet - our plans are our own."
"We have ways of making you talk. Do you value your... transporter effects?"
"Excuse me?"
"Your sparkly, green, whirling transporter effects. What would you do to stop them from becoming plain and boring. Because that is what *I* can make happen if you don't talk now!"
"Do your worst!"
So I did.
"There, no more colour, now if you're not careful I'll remove the sparkles as well."
"You wouldn't dare! How do I know you're not bluffing?"
"I'm not bluffing, here, check it out."
Then he beamed away.
Man, those Romulans are just *too* clever.
Well, now we're waiting for Starfleet to work out how best to proceed. It's clear that this technology cannot fall into the wrong hands.
Sparky... out.
Captain's log: supplemental - At least T'pik will be forever haunted by his colourless transporter beam. So I figure it's Romulans: 1, Me: 1. Rematch - to be continued.
Anthi says that since they blew up one of my previous ships, they should probably be up one point. But then I reminded her that we'd infiltrated their secret lab. But then she reminded me that it had been an Undine plot and that we'd actually destroyed harmless medical research. I threatened to take away her tribble. I figure Anthi and I are about even too.
Except I outrank her.
First Officer's additional entry - For now.

Stardate 87734.02
Well, as you can imagine, it was with great relief that we were picked up from our space coffin of a shuttle/escape pod. Garry kept on telling us stories to keep us sane. My desire to throttle him gave me something to focus on.
The ship that picked us up? The Resolution! I was immediately re-instated as her captain and it was back to work. On board was Admiral G'rel who was concerned that the Romulans had been developing secret bio-weapons in a secret facility somewhere secret.
She knew of our history with Romulans, and had taken steps to upgrade the Resolution with better shields and weapons... just in case. We warped to the neutral zone, and headed in to a system that looked like an asteroid belt full of garbage.
No sooner had we begun our search... Romulan Warbirds decloaked. Fortunately they were the small sort, not the larger D'Deridex class. Even with the upgraded systems, it was a tough battle. Reggie managed to take the targeting computers offline on one ship, while Anthi boosted phasers and Tommy increased our torpedo yield.
With a few quick repairs we were back on our way, skimming over the surface of a particularly large asteroid, we were suddenly halted in our tracks. Simultaneously I had Anthi report a ship decloaking, Garry reporting we were locked in a tractor beam and Tommy praying to some sort of alien idol.
And wouldn't you know it, it was one of the big ones. This next image shows us up close and personal, you can see how much smaller the Resolution is.
Of course, they had no chance, expecting little from a ship as small as ours, they were mightily surprised. It was a tough fight, but I managed to pilot us behind the larger ship and stick to the rear. I had been playing around with the more advanced targeting upgrades and we cheated the fight by dropping the bigger ships shields and launching a full overloaded photon torpedo spread into the "neck" of the D'Deridex.
Surprised, I think, at the nasty wound we'd inflicted, the ship cloaked and (I assume) ran away. While left alone for the present, we found the secret asteroid base.
After taking out the measly turret defences, we beamed over to get a look at their computer systems. They didn't want us to.
We found data suggesting that a nearby Romulan Starbase was the repository of "many biological experiments". The Admiral suggested we go there. I suggested that an entire starbase may be out of our league. The Admiral called in the fleet to attack one side of the starbase, while we were to infiltrate while the enemy ships were occupied elsewhere.
We approached at high speed, beamed over, and had the Resolution run away again, to be called back when we were ready to beam back. The Romulans put up a bit of a fight, but claimed to be medical researchers, not weapons researchers. We still came under heavy fire from the security teams. My new phaser had a "dissolve" setting. It worked.
Eventually we got to the computer core. It was DNA coded so we couldn't log in. I had to think for a minute. Petting a tribble is good for the brain juices. It doesn't quite work as well as a white cat though.
The Admiral solved the dilemma by stepping forward and putting her hand on the computer. She then transferred data about the Undine onto a small device. The rest of the computer systems were actually full of medical research. The Romulans hadn't been lying... the Admiral had!
Great, duped AGAIN by a shapeshifter. She beamed away, laughing at us the whole time. However, it was not a complete loss. Sure we'd slaughtered innocent Romulan medical researchers, destroyed several of their ships and allowed an Undine access to the files they had. But... I had noticed the shapeshifter flinch when I was petting Triblon. Valuable information indeed.
The Resolution picked us back up and we hightailed it out of there, only some fancy flying helped us dodge a Scimitar in full destroy everything mode.
After reporting back to Starfleet, we were told to take it easy for a while and that if we were serious about helping with the Romulan and Undine threat we would need a better ship. To qualify for the next tier of ship, I needed a promotion to Commander. To qualify for promotion I had to prove that I could solve a diplomatic concern, rather than my usual blow everything up method.
A planet near one of our Transwarp gates, produced an ore, Rarium, that helped power the gate. Unfortunately the Klingons wanted the ore also. It was decided that I should try diplomatically to solve the situation.
I beamed down to the planet to find the local princess waiting for me.
I could tell right away that I'd like this mission. Well, no sooner had we started the walk to the chieftain's village than we were attacked by a Klingon raiding party. We defended ourselves diplomatically. That didn't work, so we shot 'em.
It turned out that the chief had decided to give the ore to the strongest candidate.
I diplomatically suggested that Anthi take on the Klingon captain. Before anything could happen, though, a message came through from both the Resolution and the B'Tagh (the Klingon's ship) saying that an asteroid was minutes away from smashing into the planet.
I diplomatically suggested that we try to get rid of the asteroid. The chief agreed that whoever destroyed the asteroid would be declared strongest and get the Rarium ore.
We diplomatically agreed, diplomatically beamed up and then diplomatically fired all weapons as the Klingon vessel decided that their best chance to destroy the asteroid before us was to destroy us so we couldn't take out the flaming chunk of space-rock.
We diplomatically declined to be taken out of the picture so easily. Although the Klingon ship was bigger, we were more nimble, and my crew know plenty of good tricks now. We had to use them all to disable the Klingon vessel. The Resolution took quite a beating.
In the end we had just enough power left to blow the asteroid up. Unfortunately we'd forgotten some pretty basic physics. The smaller chunks of asteroid burned up in the atmosphere rather than smashing right to the ground, but we hadn't removed enough mass from it. The resulting heat from the spread out chunks of exploding rock sent a searing wave throughout the high oxygen content atmosphere of the planet.
We diplomatically made our apologies to the inhabitants of the planet. Fortunately we had managed to beam them on-board before the fire consumed their world. I had to very diplomatically put them behind force-field reinforced bulkheads. For their own safety. They seemed somewhat upset.
Here's an "after" picture of the same planet.
Still, sometimes you have to look at the bright side of things. The Federation was free to mine the Rarium ore now without any interference! And technically it wasn't our fault, the asteroid would have hit anyway. Reggie even found another planet with very a similar atmosphere to move the people to.
The end result, as far as I was concerned, diplomatic success!
We headed back to Starbase Earth via the transwarp gate to deliver the good news.
Sparky... out.

Stardate 87732.66
This is a short, but eventful log. Coming from our high over saving the space time continuum, we headed back to Earth, but on the way picked up some unusual Klingon activity.
They were mining some odd sort of asteroid, we took a sample and beamed down to the nearby planet.
We couldn't help but wonder if our trip to the past had introduced smurf DNA to the Klingons also.
And yes, Tommy has a tribble. I thought we'd gotten rid of them all, but the darn things reproduce so fast! Also I'd kept mine, so it's probably my fault. In any case, the Klingon Mushroom base seemed to be using the asteroid material to create some sort of super deadly torpedo.
And yes, Reggie has a tribble too. In any case, we beamed up the torpedo (and three others we found) and headed to starbase Earth.
Just in the nick of time!
I'm absolutely sure this is not our fault at all, but our shavers use a small beam to get rid of facial hair. Apparently the Klingons, given one in the past somehow, *cough* had been working for decades on improving the technology and now had some sort of super weapon capable of destroying whole planets!
The torpedo weapons that we had just found appear to be super powerful also. I suggested that perhaps we use the super powerful torpedo against the Doomsday Device.
They wouldn't mount on the ship, however, so Starfleet gave us a new ship!
The U.S.S. Perseverance (NCC 93545-B). Dwight and I fitted the torpedo and then we left immediately to face the Klingon menace. But first we had to fly by Australia again.
The Admiral told me that he'd overlook some of our more "interesting" log entries if we saved the galaxy. Sounded like a fair deal to me. A fair deal of something I'm not willing to enter into the log.
Wouldn't you know it, the Klingons had chosen a red nebula to test their device. We thought upon entering the system that the Klingons had already used the machine once. Why? Reggie and Garry were getting strange tetrychronkillifier particles on their screens. Also there was a destroyed planet.
We headed over that way, battling Klingon cruisers, the Perseverance handling herself well.
Although she has less shielding power, as a much larger vessel there is more power for weapons etc.
In any case, even from a great distance the Doomsday Device was visible, like a giant ice-cream cone... of Death!
Tommy calculated that we could actually get some tetrychronkillifier particles by scooping them from the core of the destroyed planet, feed them into the Klingon torpedo blatherification matrix and regrobnit the dritnawfurcation device for an even more potent weapon. So we did.
With fully charged torpedo, we assaulted the Doomsday Device, along with a fleet of Starfleet's finest.
I apologise for the sparsity of images, as you can see in this one, the device charged up a massive amount of power and then released it in a massive cone of destruction. Moments after this image was taken the U.S.S. Perseus and U.S.S. Howitzer were both destroyed. Our weapons were useless against it!
The one weakness Anthi picked up on was after it had fired, a shot directly into the mouth of it should destroy it. The only problem with that was the short range of the super torpedo.
With the U.S.S. Mississippi and U.S.S. Sakal also destroyed we knew there was only one thing for it.
Putting all power to shields, we flew right in front of it as it charged up for another shot.
The ship was almost instantly destroyed. We lost complete shields, decks 4, 5, 9, and 15 through 21 were just gone. We launched the torpedo, then abandoned ship.
From a distance in our shuttle we watched as the torpedo detonated inside the device.
Cheering as the explosion completely ruptured the entire thing, we then noticed the massive shockwave heading our way. Anthi boosted the shuttle's rear shields while Dwight managed to coax more engine power. We watched as the shockwave hit the Perseverance. Which didn't persevere so much as disintegrate.
Shortly thereafter the shockwave caught up with us too. Now we're sitting here in a shuttle reduced to battery power. The life support system is good for another couple of days. Our tribbles are keeping us company. Yes, there are enough for one each again now. Even Garry has one.
Hopefully Starfleet will pick us up soon.
Sparky... out.
Captain's Log: supplemental - sorry about the ship!
Sparky... out.
