Stardate 87730.25

Starfleet notified us after our last report that although it looked as though we had saved the day, we'd only just uncovered one operation. You may recall that many captains had followed many shuttles to many worlds. Well, one group had not returned and we expected the worst.

We were dispatched to find out just what was going on. It was an icy looking world.

And when we beamed down we were glad that our uniforms were the new icebreaker versions. Sure they cost more, but we were glad for it. The whirling snow made it harder to see too far ahead, but the Klingon patrols had a hard time seeing us too, making ambushing them both fun and practical.

Eventually we found the super secret lair. I thought the Federation was into flags and decorations, apparently we're nothing compared to the bunting we saw here. Unfortunately we also found the bodies of the missing crew. Anthi insisted we complete the mission and avenge their deaths by killing all the Klingon scum we found. I wasn't sure how that differed from our normal mode of operations. I decided that this wasn't the best time to bring that up.

Inside we found more evidence of DNA tampering, this time with Gorn. It seemed to sometimes just kill the subject, and otherwise create a super strong mutant aggresive giant lizard man. Actually, Gorn are always like that anyway. But these ones had a cute tribble fuzz on them as well. It was a pity, because after we phasered them you could smell burnt hair. Ewww.

Eventually we found the mastermind behind it all. Remember I was talking about Khan the other day? Well one of his relatives was still in the genetic tinkering business. We apprehended him after fighting off his super mutants.

He had a worrying tale to tell. He was being paid by a Klingon warlord to do the genetic engineering. It had worked on some Klingons, but Singh was trying to perfect the technique to mix Klingon, Gorn and Tribble DNA all at once. The Warlord had recently left, after taking the names and addresses of several key Federation scientists that were studying time travel.

We beamed back up to the ship, with Singh in the brig and subspace messaged Starfleet. KGN GRN TRBL LAB R1D BLM KHAN! TYM TRVL! OTHR CRW KLD B4 WE ARVD SRY 2 L8 WOT R UR YR ORDR 4 R NXT MSN?

We got an on-screen hail from the admiral several minutes later. He's not adapted to the new lingo yet. I explained that the Klingon, Gorn and Tribble had been ruined. We could blame Khan for the troubles. There was concern about time travel. The other crew had been killed before we arrived, sorry we were too late. What were our further orders?

He was really worried about the time travel business. I tried to calm him down. Surely if the Klingon warlord had travelled back in time to unleash a tribble enhanced super army, we'd kind of know it already. There was nothing in the historical records of such a thing and we sure weren't neck deep in cute, fuzzy, bloodthirsty Klingons, so he must not have gone back in time. So we didn't need to do anything.

Without listening to my impeccable logic, he sent us on to a nearby science outpost. We were just in time to help repel several waves of Nausicaans.

Including one of their big battlecruisers! The Resolution, a high yield spread of photons (thanks Anthi), a dropping of their shields for a moment (thanks Reggie), a tractor beam to hold them in place (thanks Dwight) and they were toast!

So now we're waiting for Garry to sift through the wreckage until he finds some information that we can use for furthering our mission. He's taking his time.

Sparky... out.
